Hospitality is the legacy of the Castle:
The Castle was built for elegant entertaining in 1894, and the exceptional home has served as the backdrop for countless special events over the years. The Castle was lovingly restored in 2009, and stands ready to continue as Lawrence’s premier setting for special occasions and meetings.
Whether your need is for a wedding, reception, rehearsal or reunion dinner, party, retreat or business meeting; the elegant rooms of the Castle or it’s Courtyard can provide your guests with the atmosphere to make your special event extraordinary.
All of the Castle’s 19th Century charm and elegance, it’s stained glass windows, hand carved mantles, and custom wood interiors have been preserved and its interior finishes have been restored and enhanced. Located adjacent to downtown Lawrence and with full accessibility for the disabled, the Castle is a perfect place to celebrate those special moments in your life. The Castle is equipped for catered events and no longer operates as a restaurant.

Castle Tea Room Sponsored Public Events:
The Castle Tea Room has developed partnerships with several local caterers to provide public Afternoon Teas and Luncheons, which are paired with a history presentation and a tour of the Castle. Public events are scheduled throughout the year and are a way for smaller groups to enjoy a meal at the Castle.
In addition to promoting the unique heritage and history of the building, Castle Tea Room public events raise funds needed to continue to restore and maintain the building. Most public events will be available by reservation only.

Interior Capacities:
The interior of the Castle can accommodate small meeting groups to large stand up receptions with a maximum capacity of 165 guests. The interior has 6 restrooms and a kitchen area on the two main floors. The capacities vary based on the style of service, and complexity and type of food and beverage service.
First floor can seat 45 people or accommodate 80 people for a stand up event.
Second floor can seat 40 people or accommodate 80 people for a stand up event.
The whole interior can be used for an event, or a smaller portion may be used.
· The Courtyard (click for diagram) can accommodate up to 200 depending on set up of the event.
· The Courtyard can be covered with a 20 foot by 20 foot, a 20 foot by 40 foot, or a 20 foot by 60 canopy.
· The old garage on Courtyard has been transformed into a kitchen service area, and 2 beautiful restrooms, which are ADA compliant and have three stalls.
· The Courtyard has built in lighting and electrical outlets for flexible set up
selecting a caterer that matches your style and needs. We maintain a list of caterers who have provided excellent food and service for events at the Castle. Caterers on the Approved Caterer List have met the requirements of the Castle Tea Room and have conducted successful events. If you would like to use a caterer that is not on the list they must first be approved. Caterers must provide staff to set for the event, monitor food/beverage, clean up during, and after the event. Drop off catering is not allowed.For some small (20 people or less), and simple events the host may be allowed to bring simple refreshments with advance approval.

· Rate quotes are not final until written into an agreement, they are given for informational purposes and may change if event parameters change.
Dates may be held as reserved, but reservations only entitle the holder the opportunity to book the date. Reservations are temporary and expire after two weeks.
The event date will be considered booked once contract is signed and the booking deposit is received. Any changes in event dates, times, and numbers of guests are subject to availability, may result in additional rental fees, and must be approved in advance.
Upon notice of cancellation, the Castle Tea Room will attempt to re-rent that date. Upon the signing of a new contract for a replacement group, your payment to date will be refunded, less 10% of the rental fee or $50 cancellation whichever is higher. If we are unable to re-rent for the reserved date, all payments made will be forfeited by the Renter.
The following services are not offered at this time, if these services are required we can assist you in making outside arrangements:
· Food service, food must be served by caterer, (Approved Caterer List)
· Beverage service, beverages must be provided by host or caterer
· Outdoor furnishings for patio or Canopies(tents) for patio
· Security services
