A New Beginning For A Lawrence Icon

Libuse Kriz-Fiorito contemplated many possibilities for the adaptive reuse of the Castle.  She left the details of the plan up a board of directors that she named before her passing.  They consulted with her on wishes, but she trusted that they would carry out her wishes to restore the Castle.

As the 21st Century unfolds, the Castle moves into a new chapter in its history. The Castle has undergone an extensive restoration and renovation. In May 2009, the foundation reopened the Castle Tea Room which is available by reservation to host those special events for which it is so well known.

When originally built the Castle was described in the local newspaper as thoroughly modern, this spirit was taken into account during the restoration when the major building systems were update with the most energy efficient lighting and temperature control systems available.

More details will be added about the restoration process, major contributing contractors, surprises, and awards.
